I believe that most people are fairly familiar with facebook and other social media sites so here is what I would do:
1. Simply just friend them or follow them (depending on the site) and start a conversation with them.
2. Send a team mail to everyone welcoming your new affiliate and add your social media names and ask everyone to post on these sites. It may be easier to send to all so that the new affiliate doesn't feel singled out.
4. Start a contest on your leadership page that emphasizes social media.
3. Finally, you always hold a weekly internet meeting with your team and go over social media and it's advantages.
