I believe that developing trust among your affiliates is something that takes time. Any relationship needs nurturing. You can't expect your down line to fully trust you and follow your lead if you aren't setting the appropriate example. The best way to show them that you are there for them is to get in the trenches with them, help them out and show them what needs to be done to be successful. If you see someone falling by the wayside, offer your help. But remember, some people like to find their own way. They may not contact you for months. If they decide to contact you long after you've given up hope that they will be active, a good leader will still extend all the help necessary to assist the affiliate to accomplish his/her goals.
It is also important for you to remember to be patient. Everyone is not the same and what may come easy for same may not be so easy for others. We are all adults here and your role as a leader is a positive one. We all want success, isn’t that the reason why we joined? Build a relationship with you team. If you put yourself on a pedestal, you will not gain the team cohesiveness that you are seeking.
Use the stream, team mail, gift card etc to let your affiliates know that you are paying attention to their efforts. Everyone likes a little recognition. So even if your affiliates haven’t reached out to you much, still let them know that you are there for them. One day they may reach out and it will be very important that you respond. That instance could very well be the beginning of a successful and profitable relationship. Just make sure that you aren’t overbearing. People decide to go into business for themselves because they tend to want to be away from the demanding boss. Stress a virtual open door policy and that team relationship will form.
