I explain to my Personally Sponsored Affiliates(PSAs) the value of VersaPoints(vp); they are like gold dust so don't squander them all in the first month.
It may be better to advise them to do enough just to attain Executive Affiliate(EA) rank in the first month. Make sure this includes completing the Launchpad and re-reading it to become familiar with the business. It is also important to advise them that it is not necessary to reach Bronze Team Leader in their first or even second month. The first month should be seen as a training month where one gets to know the basics. The second month is where one can put into action all that they have learned and reaching EA2. EA2 opens up lots of opportunities for them like being able to earn 100vp for submitting the top answer in Ask SC.
By the time they have reached the end of the second month, you will be able to analyse whether they are going to 'stick it out' then you can help them with re-assigned PSAs to help them accumulate more VPs through matching VPs and group mailer etc.
To summarize: 1st month->attain EA rank and save vp for month 2
2nd month->maintain EA rank (EA2)
3rd month->maintain EA2 or look towards attaining rank of BTL
This is just my view but I hope you can glean something from it.
