Hi Cathy,
Conference calling is fine if you're all in the same time-zone but because of the dynamics of SFI, it isn't very appealing to me because my team are spread around the globe and some may feel left out if they found out I was doing conference calling.
Having said that...most offer recordings of your live events so that those who could not make it for whatever reason can still see and hear all that took place. A traffic exchange that I am a member of use a program called Spreecast.
Spreecast:
It has the host's image on screen with lots of insets at the bottom for all the guests. Everyone can type instantly or request to speak to the whole conference. You can also contact each of the guests individually.
Another program is the well known Pal-Talk.
PalTalk
It has many features and is recognised all over the world. Then of course there are the top video chat programs such as:
Google+ Hangouts, Facebook Chat and Skype.
Conference calling is great if you are doing a presentation/training session but personally, I think one on one yields far better results...unless you have a huge down-line that is.
Wishing you success in all you do!
