As an ECA, it is first your duty to provide quality products affiliates would not mind promoting. This should trump commission payout and everything else.
Once good products are made available, ECAs who wish to acquire more sales should then offer a handsome payout commission. This is done to persuade more affiliates into promoting what you have to offer, because they will feel like they are getting a benefit out of promoting your products and services.
Next, a more ambitious ECA could provide marketing materials, similar to what SFI provides in its marketing training portion of this site. Materials can include, but not be limited to: graphics, text ads, social media ads, emails promoting your goods, and even blog pr article posts for the blotters out there.
In short, to achieve more sales, it's almost a no-brainer to provide as much marketing materials as you can craft, since they will make promoting what you are offering much easier, and thus create more sales, more commissions, and more happy people in the process.
Your new customer should end up happy from the goods they purchased. The affiliate who promoted the goods should be happy from the commissions earned and possibility of lifetime commissions (if the customer was new to TripleClicks). And, of course you will be happy from getting another sale, with the upside of possibly selling more to the same customer.
