Wonderful question. Many of us look at leadership through a followers eyes. This is because most of went to a school where we were taught to be followers.
As SFI business owners we need to look at it a different way.
One of the main things we all need to develop is being 'Teachable'. This may sound strange when referring to leadership but all good leaders remain 'teachable'.
What is 'teachable'? It is keeping an open mind to advice and knowledge. To always seek more knowledge from other leaders. To learn from our followers and never discount their point of view or questions as insignificant.
A good leader NEVER knows too much. A good leader reads, reads and reads some more and continues to build knowledge in his or her selected field.
A good leader then passes this information onto his or her followers. NEVER does a good leader keep important knowledge to themselves and gives it freely and with love.
A good leader never feels bad or hurt if one of his or her followers achieves more than themselves. They feel good because they have played a part in the followers success.
A good leader associates with leaders and has a burning desire for knowledge that they can pass onto their followers.
YOU are a leader because YOU are reading this. Because YOU are seeking knowledge that YOU can pass onto your PSAs and CSAs.
Stay 'teachable' and NEVER think that you already know it all. That is the beginning of apathy, and apathy will create failure.
