Hi Sandra This is a very good question.
We'd like to think that every way you try is a good way to get "good, new affiliates" but this isn't always the case.
I personally have tried classifieds ads, social sites (Facebook, twitter, etc.) , free traffic sites, newspaper ads, fliers etc.
I have even done the buy affiliates threw the different TripleClicks providers, don't get me wrong, it's nice to shell out a few dollars to wake up in the morning to 50 or more affiliates on your Genealogy page, but that is short lived when you only see a few of them do anything, even after you sent out a really good welcome message, and helpful tips, even after doing all I've said.
I'm finding personally that the hands on approach is the best way to recruit good new affiliates, face to face, talking to them, look them in the eyes, hearing their responses to what you have to say about SFI & TripleClicks, this right away will put your mind at rest if their going to be a good affiliate or not.
If you've been a Affiliate Marketer for as long as I have and been knocked around by them so call work from home programs only to be disappointed, then talking to family members, friends, and acquaintance, is usually a losing battle, I find their response is usually "We've heard this before".
So what I do now is make sure my home number is on all my ads, x-cards, business cards, etc. and a quotation "Call me with any questions you may have concerning SFI or TripleClicks.".
Now I know that at less 90% of my Genealogy are workers instead of 90% sleepers.
Hope this helps,, but I do know there are some good answers already out there, this is just my personal out look on this question.
