First of all, let me say that there is no one answer that fits all. However, I will share from my experience what may be the best way to encourage affiliates not to quit.
I have been in this business for over 12 years now, and most affiliates who have given up jusst left without writing me or doing anything. They just showed up on the opt out listing. The reasons for opting out often were for health reasons, no time, no money or sometimes no reason was given.
Many affiliates sit there with 0 VP or maybe 2 or 10 or 20 VP and never do anything and never communicate. I send out my team letters each week, encouraging all my affiliates never to quit and to give them ideas on how they might gain more VP before the end of the month. If an affiliate writes me, asking questions about how they can work with what they have, I give them some ideas about how they can log on and do their tasks and use what they have. I give T-credits, co-op shares, or reassign affiliates if they make EA status. I even have given gift certificates. However, I let my affiliates know that this business requires work, even if they have no money to invest, and that they will not get paid in the beginning because the first month is a learning month. They should not be discouraged if the first commissions are very low.
If an affiliate is angry and asks me not to write to them anymore and curses me out (and i have had a few of these), I tell that affiliate to opt out.
The most important thing to do in this business is to work with those who really try to make an effort. Many affiliates, unfortunately, will just sit on the fence and do nothing and let their business close on its own. They just simply are dropped from the roles and the genealogy. However, they are still customers, and they can opt in again at some later time. Some affiliates realize what they left and come back to a business that is very different from what it was, even one or two years before. I say this because SFI has changed drastically from what it was when I first came into the most unusual, wonderful, different and innovative business ever seen in the global marketplace. So be encouraged, and don't let these affiliates who really want to leave or who say negative things about TripleClicks or SFI cause you to lose your focus on your goal. Many of these affiliates probably haven't even filled out the profile and written their goals. If they do not want to work at this, nothing you do will encourage them to stay; and they may just get in your way as you build your team.
I hope this proves to be helpful.
Kind regards,
A Bronze Team Leader who is resolutely set on Platinum
