I have been thinking about this question since I read it the other day. I am not sure my answer will be appreciated. I feel certain it will not be "liked" but I feel strongly that it is true.
I as a sponsor invest in my affiliates. I believe in them and I want to see each one succeed.
Problem is I have 100s of affiliates that do not believe in themselves, or do not believe in SFI. That is okay, well the later is okay, but if you believe in yourself and you really want to succeed in SFI, you can not think, "How do I succeed without investing." Now I know there are many forms of investment, time, money, energy, or maybe access (good connections but little skill or money). But most people who are working SFI have a computer or Smart Phone. We have money enough, because it does not take much.
I fear the question is not "those who do not have enough to invest" it is "those who are unwilling to risk investment." Now, if you are unwilling to risk investment in yourself, why would I invest in you. And this is a problem.
I think you can do very well in SFI with minimal investment but not with zero. I need to believe in myself and in my participation in SFI. I need skin in the game. You see, if I invest in you and you do not invest, then you may just fade away or quit because you're bored, or busy, or see a "better offer" and my investment is wasted. So I hesitate to invest in those who "have no skin in the game".
Now if I am going to join under you as your affiliate and you have no skin in the game will you help me, invest in me, when you're not investing in yourself? Will you even be there 2 months from now? So I hesitate to buy in 100%. I am a new affiliate but I sit at zero or 10, 20 VP because I sense no momentum from you. And then you say it does not work, yet that may not be true. It may be that you have created a scenario or situation that is not driven to success.
I understand poverty. I work among the poor everyday. Do not think, "oh this guys has no idea about me". What is "skin in the game" differs for every person and every level of income, but we need to be in, we can't be spectators and expect to succeed.
There is ROI (Return on Investment) I invested in Triple Click Gift Cards. $30.00 I have won Distribustar drawing 10 times where the prize was 30 gift cards. That is 300 gift cards. That is $300.00 dollars to me in the form of cards, and 300 times $12.00 in Card face value. That is a good investment. Why haven't you done it? That is ROI.
Treat your business like a business. No matter what you do, sell noodles on the street or work SFI, you need to invest in yourself.
