Hello,
Everyone has his or her own story about how being an SFI affiliate changed their lives. I would like to share my reflections.
The biggest way SFI changed my life is that it gives me hope to realize a lifelong dream. I am realistically hopeful I will be able to retire from my full time job within the next 3 years. I have always wanted to work for myself, and be the beneficiary of my hard work and time. I look around SFI and see the movers who make Platinum Team Leader in only a couple months time. This lets me know the opportunity to see a large income is very real, if you are willing to put in the work.
SFI restored my faith in online business opportunities. I have been burned, and as a result, was very skeptical. I joined SFI because it was free to sign up. Not only did i find out this is a solid business opportunity, but it offers world class training, a family who wants to help you succeed, management tools to help you run your business, and a company which is constantly making improvements.
Speaking of the SFI family...not only do we support each other in our business efforts, we also support each other in our personal struggles. It is a human element I have not seen in any other online businesses I have been involved with. Just recently I have seen 2 Forum threads from affiliates who have shared their stories of personal difficulty. Many of us reached out to them and offered support, and prayers.
This was a thought inspiring question, and I am looking forward to reading the other responses

How do you motivate lazy and unmotivated affiliates?

First, do consider them as a valuable resource. Unless they opt-out, they are on your mailing list. Therefore they remain potential EA2's and team leaders. Include them in your weekly newsletters. For a more personal touch, send an occasional e-card to offer encouragement and offer of support. Or call, if a phone number is available. Some people are not responsive to emails but are more receptive to a phone call. You can also offer incentives for their participation through contests, or simply rewarding individual prizes in certain criteria are met.
However, temper your expectations. Getting unmotivated affiliates engaged is probably a long shot at best. In the end, the affiliate will have to want it for themselves. Some people sign up just to take a look around. Others expected a six figure income overnight without putting in any effort.
So continue to make the effort to reach out to them. But don't exhaust your efforts trying to convert them. There are other people on your team who want to build successful business and are willing to put in the commitment and focus necessary to succeed. Work with the workers!
Best wishes for success in your business!

Should I stick strictly to using SFI's system or would it benefit me to add some of my own touches and strategies?

Absolutely add your own strategies.
SFI presents a great blueprint on how to succeed. There are many tools and resources at your disposal (including our community of SFI affiliates). That said, you are the business owner. You decide how to promote your business, manage your team, how much time and money you invest. I would just ensure that your strategies do not conflict with SFI's rules and affiliate agreement. Otherwise, go for it!
What are the best ways to encourage my downline members to participate in Pricebenders auctions?

The best way to encourage participation among your team is simply to highlight the benefits.
First, it is a great opportunity to win great products such as electronics or household goods for only a small percentage of the retail value. They can also win items to help with building their businesses, such as PSA's, CSA's, domains, and S-Builder, and receive a deep discount on these items by winning the auctions.
Second, not only do you win valuable action VP, which is needed to help build rank, but you also win MRP which can be used toward purchases.
Third, the Bid and Build program is a great way for your affiliates to get new PSA's. For every 10 bids, they can spin to win anywhere between 10% (guaranteed minimum) and 50% of a new PSA.
You should also share your own Pricebender success stories with your team, and let them know how much fun it is. Personally, I am hooked.
Hope this helps a little.
