The biggest turn off in my oppinion is not so much what you say but what approach you take during the conversation.
If you are honest and open about the business and what someone can expect from it they be more eager to listen to your story. However, if you sound pushy or trying to convince someone you might most often achieve the exact opposite.
But if you really need to know what not to say and I'd have to come up with something to that one I think it'll be money. Do not talk about money or how much something costs, only talk about the benefits and try not to bring any negativity and doubt into the mind of the person you talk to.

What are the best ways to track my ads to know which are providing the best results?
I use an adtracking script myself. It's a self hosted solution that I have installed on one of my domains and it runs inside Wordpress. It's not free but it gives very indepth information and shows where the traffic comes from, which ad produces the most results and so on.
Since SFI does not allow for trackback url's I cannot use the conversion tracking feature of that script so I associate a code for each ad that I put in an excel sheet and use the same code with SFI's hit tracking to see which of my ads produce signups and which do not.
But of course you can use SFI's hittracking solely, it's not just as in depth and useful to me but its free if you cannot afford a paid solution.
