With my team, I use simple language and I always spell out abbreviations so they can get an idea of what I am talking about if I repeat something in a paragraph. For example, VersaPoints, (VP). I make it clear that the easiest way to reach me is if they send a Team Mail or I just say through SFI messages.
If they are local or at least in your country, you might exchange phone numbers for calling, texting or even instant messaging. You can remind them of your email and tell them a heading they can use so you will recognize their message.
You can exchange Facebook and Twitter and other social media names to friend each other.
Above all, if you want to work closely with someone to help them and brainstorm for both of you, set a mutual schedule so that you may "talk" "live" as much as possible whether on Facebook or Google Hangout so you are not playing "message tag" an inordinate amount of time.
I hope this helps.

Should a person go for the rank of Team Leader if they don't yet have a team?

The short answer is No. How can you be a leader if you don't have a team? You wouldn't qualify even if you had the points. You cannot build by yourself unless you make lots of sales to people who just buy and never become members. It's much easier with a team. You are already part of a team even if you don't have your own. You have upline Sponsor and Co-sponsor who can reassign their team members to you if qualified.

If you feel it is a challenge, bring it to your sponsor's attention and ask what they know about or point you toward where you can get the most and best and appropriate help for the task of building a business. Being a person with a slight limitation of being partly deaf I know the challenge of trying to build a business especially when I have to listen to a webinar that is not captioned but then I wear my hearing aid. I also like cc on videos I watch. Perhaps there may be times, depending on the degree of disability so that you can get something to adjust your computer so that it is easier and more comfortable for you to use if needed and also get help from your cosponsor and other up line team members and a friend who knows business and co-workers, a2a friends. Hope this helps.

Is it worthwhile to sponsor affiliates who speak little English or have very limited computer/Internet experience?

Yes and here's why: I have Affiliates who speak two languages with the non English being the one they are more familiar with and they may tend to use both languages in a paragraph but I look up translation computer programs when neede. Everyone needs help and everyone can help and deserves our patience and kindness and understanding. Having an attitude of generosity can go a long way. You may be surprised that people with little computer understanding are possibly more willing to learn what they need to know than someone who won't listen because he thinks he knows enough because he or she has so much experience in sales or computer programs or other skills. In addition, people who don't speak much English can talk to others who speak their main language and show them how SFI can help them.

Set a goal of say for example you want a product that is worth 3500 be it advertising or investing in getting a down line and you need to save up that many MRP to meet your goal, then it will most likely be an especially good investment when you are able to purchase your item with MRP outright and not spend any extra money in addition, you will probably reap the rewards of increasing the size of your team.
How do you get your affiliates to become SERIOUS business builders in SFI?

There have been times when I see "movers" and other times I don't see them listed. When it shows that it's been a few days since a PSA or CSA has not been logging in daily, I send them an email. Sometimes I see them listed shortly after I have encouraged them to do that.
Not too long ago, I sent emails to two movers who were not listed and they both came back on the mover's tab.
When I see that that they have come back after being absent, I send a Team Mail welcoming them back and thanking them for continuing in their SFI business and adventure and I always encourage them to ask questions.
