The first thing would be to learn as much as possible about SFI through reading the Basics to know the objectives, go through Launchpad the same way and also have an understanding about duplicating. You then start building a down line by sponsoring new affiliates.
You should be confident and sure about your goals and vision for your business because you will have to 'infect' your down line with the same confidence and determination to succeed.
Keep communication lines open with them, assuring them of your availability to answer any questions and help out. Encourage them to strive ahead as you track their progress through the genealogy. Share nuggets of information you have received from your up line. Rejoice with them with each milestone they achieve. You continue this even when they do so well and win more badges and VersaPoints than you have. Their success is yours also!
All the best!

What's the difference between being an SFI affiliate and having a traditional business, and which is better?

There is a great difference between being in the traditional business and being an SFI affiliate.
You plan the time suitable for you and do not have to dress up for your customers/clients
No utility bills or rent to pay for your business location
You have a great deal of support from your experienced up line and also down line
You receive free on-going training without traveling anywhere to attend
Your accounts are kept for you and you have no need to bother about all those calculations
Several avenues of earning an income are open to you at the same time
All that I have listed cannot be possible in a traditional business. I will go for SFI business!

What's the best way to get new affiliates signed up without having to answer a lot of questions first?

You would need to get them convinced to sign up and it would have to be through providing enough information. If you prepare your introductory information properly with all the necessary facts (these are already provided by SFI in Basics, Launchpad, Forum, etc), follow-up questions may not be that many.
However, since they are new affiliates, be ready for questions. It goes with the terrain! I remember I asked many questions myself and my awesome sponsor answered everyone of them and made it clear that I could always ask as many as I wanted!
As time goes on and with growing experience, you will be adept at introducing SFI that the number of questions would not matter!

When faced with negativity in promoting SFI, how do you respond and what path do you take moving forward?

I would not allow negative reactions to get to me as the person may have had an unfortunate experience which has influenced his/her judgement.
Once I believe in SFI and have my goals set, that is my prime focus. Just move on and look for another opportunity to promote SFI. One should not expect everyone would share his/her views and if we believe in ourselves and where we are heading, the sky's the limit.
