As a mentor helping others with their sales talk, I get to help people with this many times.
1- this is just a conversation, start with a question such as, " Have you ever wanted to have your own business?"
2- Make the conversation about them.
3. Ask questions and LISTEN to their answers. What has stooped you? What held you back? Or What was your experience? Their responses will tell you what they need to hear and how to present solutions.
4. Use their words in your responses repeating their challenges then show SFI can help. This requires you have been learning about your business through the training here.

Recognize you are looking for a select number, not everybody wants to build a business. When you hear a no, this is not an indication that you can't sell. It means that this person is not a business builder. You do not want a network of people you tricked or dragged in, they will never do the work required and you work harder than you should trying to motivate and support them.

Every conversation you have is an opportunity to craft your talk. Practice is what brings results.

I have over one hundred CSAa and PSAs, only three are showing any activity. Only one has responded to my welcome letter. It is a waste of my time, effort and money to try setting up a co-op at this time.

Once you have a number of ACTIVE affiliates that are COMMUNICATING with you, that would be time to set up a co-op. Participation should be easy to get because you have a relationship with your team. Until you have a relationship and communication, you will not have much chance of involvement.

While you are building that responsive team, you should be testing some advertising markets. You need to test your results with different types of ads, headlines and sources. If I am going to spend money on a co-op, there are certain things I look for to be sure I am putting my resources to good use.

One co-op I have bought into pre-qualifies the leads. That is, they check for an interest in building a home or online business. If you are not able to pre-qualify or consistently produce a particular number of leads, you should do some practice and learning before you offer a co-op to a responsive team.

I use Autoresponders myself, they are a great tool when used properly. I train constantly, not just on the SFI website but I have paid memberships on other sites as well. One helpful bit of information I learned was a very basic outline for setting up autoresponder messages. You want your emails to convey three things:
1. What I've got
2. Why You need it
3. How you get it.
Put a link to your gateway or blog (Use the one available on the Leadership Page) and do it at least 3 times working it into your message. The message should be helpful, not sales-y

You should set up two more emails to respond over the next few days as well. Again, you will follow the pattern What I've got/Why you need it/How you get it not just within the message, but in the series as well. The first email will be about what you have, the second about why 'you' need it, and the third is a very compelling call to action if they have not already acted.

One more thing to share regarding using an autoresponder, Diane Hochman, who is a well respected marketer uses hers a little differently than others. SHe has some pre written emails, but she keeps it personal and timely by sending out daily messages that are written on that day using current experiences that we can learn from. Likewise, your messages should be personal and spontaneous.

I use a marketing approach called Attraction Marketing. I do not chase leads. I attract potential business partners to myself through relationships.

Your warm market already has a relationship to you. Is it one whereby they respect and value your opinions? Then it should be easy to "share" a good program you have found. If they are used to you chasing one program after another, then you will need to wait until you have built an income from your cold market.

Approaching a cold market can be done through Facebook Marketing (You need training to do this properly or be banned), blogging about home business or internet shopping deals. You can post classified ads (learn about effective copy writing).

Handing out gift cards is great for both cold and warm markets since everyone wants something for free. Always when marketing, provide value without the expectation of return and people will be attracted to you.

Since people prefer to do business with someone they know, like and trust, always be friendly and helpful. Let them tell you what they desire and you provide the answer- SFI!

First you need to determine if someone is merely curious about what you do or if this is a conversation about owning a business.

"SFI is a marketing group which entrepreneurs join to build an online business. I am a team leader, mentor and business owner."

If the asker is merely curious, that answer will suffice, but it MAY spark a thought that they could do it as well. Be ready share your gateway and get their contact information if their curiosity is aroused.

If this a discussion about business ownership, you are sure to get more questions. A lot of people have an entrepreurial streak, but may not have considered an online business as viable. You might mention that "like a franchise, SFI is a turnkey system which provides a training system, marketing aids and websites to act as storefronts for your business." "UNLIKE a franchise, you can start SFI free. If you have no budget to build a business with you can grow this business albeit slowly. With a modest income available, you can steadily grow it in a few months."

If they become become dismissive, argumentative or challenging about SFI, just say "hey, this is not for everybody". Then change the subject. I'd venture to say 90% of the time, that person will continue to think about what you told them and will eventually ask you about it again at another time.

It is obvious from answers I have seen that many people do not understand what Targeted Marketing is.

People hate advertising and will tune out most of it. Advertising that targets an individual's likes, passions or lifestyle are far more likely to be successful. Think of the needs of:
Single Moms, or Dads
Stay-at-home Moms or Dads
Entrepreneurs
Travelers
Hobbyists who want more time to pursue that passion- each hobby is a target group, hobbyist is still to broad a term.

This is a very basic explanation for a much more complex and ever changing method. I have spent time and money to learn how to market and love this opportunity to help others find their path to freedom.

When questions about getting PSAs to perform are asked, many of the answers involve leading by example. This is another area where that advice applies.

I believe that positive reinforcement is also effective. I apply both of these methods to get sponsor ratings by posting an enthusiastic message targeted to the PSAs that have been in SFI at least two months. (Did you realize there is a two month membership requirement?)

Here is my message: "I just earned an easy 10 VersaPoints for posting a rating and comment about my Sponsor! You can, too!" Add a link and your pre-qualified PSAs are sure to follow.

I never expect anyone to join something just because I have, unless they 'want' what I have.

If someone wants to have a business that fits into the lifestyle they want to live, one that allows them to travel, or to be at home with children. If they want to remove the limitations of how much they can earn, then being self-employed is the answer. However, you can run into problems being self-employed, too. Who do you turn to if you have questions? Even if you attend college, they are only teaching you how to do a J-O-B. SFI provides the means to get answers when you run into trouble. You have mentors here. The overhead is low. Even though you can work 40 hours at this if you wish, you don't need to!

I think these are all good reasons to have a home business. An SFI business is much more, it has longevity, many income streams to choose from and SFI provides the marketing opportunities and tools.

If you have no CSAs to send out to, you need to get out some ads to build your traffic, or... get an S-Builder Co-op share and get enough VP to become EA. You earn points when you send email to your team.

Learn from the training pages, then after reviewing them, pay attention to the questions in Ask SC, you will learn more advanced issues and remedies while you earn points.

As you perform these actions, pay attention to your posture. Use the best grammar you know how, check your spelling begin typing into the search bar and the word or phrase should pop up. ~*~

You have gotten lots of good information about designing your card. One answer I rated was particularly good which was to use a clear font and avoid being "cute" This advice was from an art teacher. I am a graphic artist and this is my business.

This makes me wonder if your really need a business card. Handing out business cards may not be the best way to promote your SFI business because a business card has a very specific purpose, to convey contact information to a business contact. If I was hired to design your card, I would suggest you promote yourself as a business owner and mentor to people who are interested in starting their own business.

Your card should have your name and the best way to contact you. Don't put a phone number if you prefer email responses. I know people in business who will not answer their phone if they don't recognize the number! I would not put the gateway on the card, it would be best to get an email address from your prospect that you can put into a contact list. Send them email with the gateway link so all they have to do is click.

If you want to promote your business, you might want to use brochures or fliers. They are intended to "persuade" because they provide more information and have space to be educational.
