To communicate with your PSAs or CSAs, one can use the following methods:
1. PSA mailer, CSA mailer or Genealogy group mailer
2. Stream function
3. Direct email
4. Social networking sites, newsletters or blogs.
The best method to use depends largely on the type of message to be addressed to the affiliates. Method 1 is good as a means of supporting and encouraging your affiliates on a weekly basis. The stream function can be used to update your affiliates on developments, once every three days, while direct email contact is essential if a particular affiliate needs individual attention. Some affiliates maybe following you on facebook or twitter in which case they may send messages to you through these social networking sites and you have to respond if they do. Having said that I think the methods already provided by SFI are sufficient for contacting your PSAs or CSAs.

How do you motivate your downline to spend money monthly to maintain EA status without sounding greedy?

The role of the sponsor is to guide the PSA or CSA with their business and not to be seen to be putting pressure on them. One of the first goals of every new affiliate should be to qualify as Executive Affiliate as this is the only way we can participate in the share of the pool. However, having said that affiliates come in many types of personality and ability, there will inevitably be differences in their capacity to meet these expectations. I think it is every sponsor’s wish to have very good PSAs and the best way to have your active affiliates as EAs should be to lead by example. In other words put duplication into practice. Show them how and why you maintain your EA and you will be sowing the seeds of motivation.
It is true that after the first month, one has to do more to maintain their EA status and this is where the sponsor should help the affiliate. Those who can afford to spend should be encouraged and those who cannot should be advised to invest their time wisely and gradually, they too will be able to participate in the sales. One man's 30 days could be another man's 300 days!
Putting pressure on them will make them feel as if they are just being used and they may turn away altogether.

For how long should my PSAs and CSAs depend on me for help?

The role of the sponsor is mainly to guide and support the downline. When the PSAs or CSAs join the group, apart from sending a welcoming letter, it is important that the sponsor continues to address any issues raised by the downline as they learn the training material at SFI.
It has to be said that committed affiliates can still make progress regardless of the type of sponsor they have. How long should they depend on you for help? For the growth of your team, continued support and encouragement to your PSAs or CSAs will also bring benefit to you as a leader. This is because with every issue raised (even where you cannot provide an immediate answer), you are also growing as a leader. In this context the phrase “depend on me” should not be interpreted to mean that the PSAs or CSAs would fail without your help.
I would say keep the relationship with your PSAs and CSAs for as long as they are members of your team. The strength and growth of your team depends on people like them and there will always be something new to learn.

If a friend or family member asks you about your SFI business, what do you tell them?

There is saying, “If you speak the truth, you don’t ever have to worry about what you said.” In other words, if you are not honest with your family or friends, it will always linger on your mind.
Friends and family are our most trusted companions and if they asked you about SFI, it is better to tell them that you are involved in online marketing with a international company which has been in business for as long as 17 years and has affiliates from more than 200 countries. You can then of course tell them what you are doing and how you spend your time on the business, for they maybe interested in getting involved. And if they ask, it is also a great opportunity to introduce the products and games available at Tripleclicks and assure them that they do not have to pay anything to join.
In short, just be upfront and you might just be surprised to see them joining your team, buying Tripleclicks products or playing Eager Zebra Games.

I've received new CSAs from my country from the CSA Exchange. How can I get their attention and engage them?

The first move is certainly to welcome them to your team and you may even do so writing in the language that you share.
From what I have noticed most CSAs in the exchange pool have been at SFI for a while and most of them are inactive. There are of course many reasons why affiliates are inactive but if it were due to language and cultural barriers, then this would be a great opportunity for you to help them rejuvenate their SFI business. Just chat with them in friendly manner to find out whether this has been the case.
You can also help to point them in the right direction in areas where they have been struggling in the past simply due to communication problems. A spoken word is sometimes all that it takes to break a barrier.

What can I do with affiliates who become EA in the first month and then stop, saying SFI is not what they expected?

Many new PSAs who give up or remain inactive, shortly after joining do not even give reasons or communicate with their sponsor when they do. So if your affiliate tells you that they are quitting for any reason, the first thing to do is to appreciate their gesture in writing to you. At the same time this offers you a chance to explain to them what is expected of them when they join SFI. Just start by being friendly and explain your own journey and even give examples of other people who also wanted to quit but are now successful SFI team leaders.
I think you can even learn more from them if you can find out from them what their expectations were. It could be that they were expecting instant returns for their efforts or that they never expected to be investing in it financially.
If the PSA has achieved EA status, congratulate them on their efforts. What comes next after this milestone? This maybe just where their problem is. I once had a PSA who said “ I have reached EA, when are you sending me the payment?”
Explain to the PSA, that this is a journey and now they need to maintain their EA status and start building a team.
You can present your own story as an example. Duplication is the best example and one cannot give what he or she does not have.
A small talk goes a long way and you maybe surprised what impact you can have in helping them to stay and continue their SFI journey!

What do you say to an affiliate who thinks that doing the daily 1 VP actions is a waste of time?

The first response would be to explain to them why they are doing it. If indeed the affiliate does not know why he or she is doing the “To Do List”, then that indeed would be considered a waste. No drop of water goes to waste when a man fills an empty container. Every drop counts towards filling that vessel. In other words each versa points that one earns counts towards the total.
I think the confusion arises from the fact a false impression is created that all one needs to be successful is to get 11 versa points from the to do list every day. Of course this is not true because one needs to explore all streams of earning versa points. The To do list is a platform from which one can explore or expand.
Let the affiliate think of it as a list of titles, which need sub titles and content!

What do you do with affiliates who never do anything--despite your constant encouragement and offers of support?

Thanks for your question as it affects many affiliates.
Some, if not most of the problems we face with others stem from misunderstanding, which sometimes has its roots in ineffective communication. In the context of a relationship between the team leader and his or her downline, it is difficult to establish a strong and successful team without the leader supporting their affiliates. So, if you are constantly rendering your support and the affiliate does nothing, there is a problem: either your message is not getting through or it is just being ignored. As the famous quote says, “You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.”
Your support as a leader is not meant to force anyone to do something but rather to help and guide. There are many would be affiliates who fish the web but who at the same time lack commitment when they have their catch. With this approach, they will move from one site to another, without clear-cut goals. When you have given your support, you have done your part, and what you can do is focus your energy on those who are willing to take up your support. For those that do nothing, maybe one day they will remember your support and realise that there can be no output without input.

There are several ways in which you can reward or appreciate your hard working affiliates and some examples available on your SFI homepage include:
1. Gift certificates
2. Tcredits
3. PSA re-assignments
4. Allow them to join your Co-op if you have one.
5. Congratulatory messages through E-cards
The first thing one has to do is send a message of congratulations or encouragement and this will show your active affiliates that you recognise and appreciate what they are doing. This is priceless but words go a long way in motivating others.
In terms of material incentives, the giver that is the sponsor, on the basis of what is available to him or her, will ultimately determine the best way. For instances, there are some sponsors who have mentioned rewarding their affiliates with cash incentives and gift certificates are also very popular at SFI. Whatever is given is meant to be a token of appreciation.
The number of active affiliates in your team will also influence material rewards. Giving cash incentives maybe viable for a small number but not for hundreds of affiliates. If you run a team competition you can then give first, second and third prizes.
Active affiliates are the spine of the team and their efforts should always be encouraged and appreciated in both small and big ways.

What would you consider to be too much and unnecessary communication with your team?

In as much as it is important for you to communicate with your team, it is equally necessary not to forget that, it is not just how often but what you are communicating (your message) that is important. For example if you were to write to your team three times a week with the same information, that would be considered unnecessary – unless the affiliate asked for it. In that case, it would indicate the affiliate needs clarification or has questions on your first message. Your team is made of different individuals and these individuals have different levels of climbing the ladder, so much that what may seem clear to one may not be to another. Therefore, as a leader one has to acquaint oneself with their affiliates as individuals and as a group and this will help the leader when deciding what type of message to write to the team.
