I think the best way to stand out from the crowd is to be yourself. Put your photo up all around the internet – on your emails, on various forums, Linked-In, and other social media sites like Facebook. Also be active in these places and talk about a variety of topics, so that people get to know YOU – not just your business. When people see your photo they will come to recognise you and know what you stand for. This is called ‘branding’ yourself. You are your brand. The aim of this exercise is to have people come to know, like and trust you, so that will listen to your advice and follow your lead.
Build a blog in which you share your passion, and also build a blog to promote your business. People who have come to know and trust you through your interest blog will visit your business blog and be persuaded by you.
I think to stand out from the crowd, you want your own domain names, and not just take people to the standard SFI gateways. Have your own lead capture page and carefully written friendly emails which you write as if writing to a friend. Make them personal – again people will come to know, like and trust you through your autoresponder campaign. It is vital that you respond individually to any email that someone sends you with a particular question they may have.
When you are advertising your lead capture page, write your advertising emails in a genuine friendly manner that is not over the top and making wild claims. People will come to distrust you if you make claims that can’t be substantiated. If they have already met you in some forum or on your blog or somewhere, and they recognise you, you are more likely to have them open your advert because they will say, “Oh, there’s so and so. I wonder what they’re promoting.”
Another way to stand out from the crowd when tying to get people to join your business, is to have something special to offer them, that other people don’t. I have seen some SFI ads where people have offered free e-books on being a success or free membership of an advertising co-op. Make a product of your own that will provide real value to the prospect and offer it as an incentive to join your team, rather than someone else’s.
I believe these strategies will help you stand out from the crowd. I hope they give you some ideas and inspire you to come up with many more.
Best of luck.
