I think what really matters is the experience you brought in with you, the type of products you sell and your financial standing.

1. Your experience in sales and shipping will be important in determining what methods you want to apply. If you are fairly inexperienced and the type that requires a long learning curve, then it may be wise to concentrate in your region for a while and this period of transition will depend on how long it takes you to overcome these short comings.

2. The nature of products you sell, physical or digital is important when considering your target market share. For example digital products may not necessarily require any constraints in terms of geographical area, so to this extent you may decide to ship globally. However, for physical products, the advice in #1 above suffice.

3. Your financial situation really maters in this regard. This is because as an ECA you pay for the shipment of goods to customers before you are reimbursed by SFI, which may take a couple of days. This means that you are going to spend more on shipments to destinations outside your region, so if you are buoyant you may decide to broaden you area of operation, otherwise it is advisable to stick to your region to reduce cost, especially on shipment of physical products.

To conclude, one cannot discount the advantages in marketing your products globally because your products will be exposed to an infinite customer base, increasing your market share and hence revenue. Having said this, it may not be economically and practically viable to globalize, hence a tactical and strategic consideration is made to go local. Please note that a globalized marketer may not necessarily be more successful than a localized one.

Like they say do not do to others what you will not like others do to you, so put yourself in the shoes of the prospect and begin to examine what may turn you off in similar circumstance. However, the following turn offs should be avoided because the sales person is always perceived with skepticism:

1. Be very sincere in your description of the program and desist from giving the impression that it is a get rich quick business.

2. Make it simple and avoid information overload to avoid scaring your prospect with complexities.

3. Be careful not to leave an impression that this is a Punzi scheme or Pyramid scheme, where cash flow is not created.

4. Do not show hesitation in answering his question or responding to his concerns as it may be misconstrued as hiding something.

5. Avoid telling him much about himself, but about the business and your journey here so far.

6. Not a good strategy to tell your prospect he does not need any help to succeed.

7. Do not tell your prospect you know what he needs or what suits him, because he may not even know himself, just do the selling and let him make the decision.

It is becoming increasingly important to attract young workers and strategies are being put in place to ensure they are retained and active by various businesses, so our respective SFI businesses should not be left out in this pursuit. There are various reasons why younger workers are more attractive; flexibility, longevity, technologically enthusiastic, agility etc.

However, the problem is how to retain and make them active in order to avail of the full benefits of their potentials because they are prone to high turnover rate.
Now to SFI specifically, your ability to develop an active young downline, the more potential to generate a long lasting financial benefits, however, you may adopt the suggestions below:

1. Young people tend to appreciate the possibility to be creative, so you need to let them know that SFI business allows for this and since it is their own business, they have the prerogative to steer it in the direction they deem suitable for themselves in order to achieve their desired objectives.

2. Younger people prefer non boring work environment, so let them know that apart from the demands of hard work, there is also a lot of fun and interaction between members. You may introduce them to EZ games, forum, a2a friendship and SFIMG. When they build relationships with others and become enthusiastic about EZ games, then there is the tendency to become attached to their SFI business.

3. Again young people enjoy a flexible work-life balance, so lay emphasis on the fact that SFI business is not rigid and mandatory in terms of the time they need to spend working it. Say it explicitly that they are masters of their time and that effective time spent on their businesses needs to be of quality and not necessarily of quantity.

4. You also need to be open to any new perspective for improving how work is done here in order to increase the chances of success. Do not pose as a boss but as a partner or a mentor who does not know it all and is willing to accommodate their input fairly and respectfully.

5. Young people tend to be less patient and want things to move very fast, so you need to inform them and constantly draw their attention to the fact that, to be successful here they need to be patient, determined and persistent, and that success does not happen overnight. Their often lack of patience also entails you respond quickly and appropriately to their queries, problems and issues, in order to reduce frustration and lack of motivation.

You may not have answers to every query, so you may therefore need to direct them to alternative sources where they may possibly receive assistance like the forum, Ask SC, SFIMG and a2a. It is also imperative to introduce them to the My Country/My region forum and let them know they can communicate in their own languages in those forums.

6. Younger generation like recognition and rewards, so endeavour as much as you can to recognise their hard work and give rewards where appropriate. This may motivate them to do more by becoming more active in their SFI businesses.

7. You may also survey them to ascertain what they require to be active and based on the information supplied by them, you can therefore put appropriate strategies in place to meet their expectations as much as you can but please do not do more than you can do.

8. No matter how young they are please do not treat them like kids, treat them with the dignity and respect of business partners, instead of the dignity and respect of children or workers.

9. Younger people appreciate various ways of earning income so you may also need to continuously draw their attention to the different ways of making money here in order to engage them more in the various aspects.

10. There is need to always inform them of the benefits of logging into their accounts daily and you may even tie contests to a minimum login period in order to win prizes.

In conclusion, always thrive to be up to date and not to be stuck in the past when it comes to effective ways of motivating young people to become active in this business. This is because today’s strategies may quickly become obsolete and new ways may become appropriate and more effective to deal with changing situations.

Well, success is relative depending on what constitute success to different set of folks, but on a general note success means achieving your stated goals so I will approach my answer by attempting to be general as much as possible.

With the way SFI is structured, it is possible to be successful without investing money but if you have a business mindset; it will be unprofessional not to invest in your business, especially if you can. Having said that, how will you then be successful without investing any money? Find my prescriptions below:

1. You must attempt to prospect your warm market; relatives, colleagues, friends, socials network. Reach out to them physically or by any other electronic methods.

2. Take a walk along your main street and speak to people and businesses in order to generate both SFI/TC and ECAs signups. You see, one of the most effective cost free methods is to engage in face-to-face prospecting.

3. Place SFI/TC flyers on important places in your locality where they can be visible and attractive; library, municipal council, social welfare offices, pensioner gathering centres, supermarkets, colleges etc.

4. Place ads in free classifieds but you have to invest an awful lot of time to get reasonable results.

5. After the hard work above, you may generate some sales and signups, and at month end you will receive some commission. Here is the tricky part; please resist the temptation to blow away this commission on non SFI related things, instead invest the money in advancing the course of your SFI business and if it is enough to set up a standing order of especially Tcredits you may start from there.

In conclusion, is it really right to say you did not invest any money in this circumstance? What of buying gas for your car or a bus ticket to the town centre which are indirect expenses anyway. On a more serious not anyone that is not willing or incapable to invest a reasonable amount of money in this business may have a long and rougher road to success. The best way to motivate your downline to become team leaders is to create an awareness of the importance of sponsoring and duplication, so that as their PSAs become very engaged and active, your downline, who are sponsors will receive the associated VP for supporting them.

These Support VP will become higher as their PSAs attain higher ranks, which will in turn make your downline become team leaders. It may be unproductive to encourage your downline to 'buy' TL status by making purchases only because it may become unsustainable to maintain a TL rank buy such purchases on medium or long term basis.

As a consequence, your duty will be to direct them on how to sponsor and duplicate by constant communication on how they can duplicate your efforts, assuming you are also doing what it takes to maintain a team leader status.

Effective communication is important in order to assist, guide and mentor you team and lack of it may result in misinterpretation of your message and therefore not achieving its objective, because the recipients may respond as unintended by you. I identified some ways to communicate in an effective way below:

1. Ensure you send mails that enunciate the benefits rather than just spending, otherwise you may be seen as been exploitative.

2. Be very responsive to their questions and concerns by acting on a timely and consistent way, without delay.

3. Be very polite and professional, and treat them like your partners instead of your workers or employees.

4. Desist from pushing hard if your guidance is disregarded, otherwise your team may feel disrespected and undue interference or that you are high handed.

5. Avoid sounding too negative in order not to demotivate your team. Instead of saying ;you will not succeed in this business if you do not have a standing order' while not say 'standing order comes with a lot of benefits like.....'.

6. Your communication should not loose track of praising achievers and encouraging non achievers. For example instead of saying 'you are not putting in effort in your business' while not say 'I have noticed you missed some actions recently, is there anyway I can be of help?'.

7. Though we emphasize duplication, but this does not mean you should 'clone' your team because everyone is different and there is no way they can be you, so take note of the different make up in your team and where necessary, use different communication styles accordingly.

8. It may not be easy but try as much as possible to use clear, simple and concise language, and to avoid using words or phrases that are subject to misinterpretation.

9. Read or listen to your communication yourself and assume you are the recipient in order to access the impact before you send it out.

I will attempt to answer this question with regards to SFI’s quality and how it surpasses other similar businesses:

1. Unlike other similar businesses where there is just one way to earn income, SFI has five; direct commission, co-sponsor commission, SFIPPA, ECA royalties and TC Executive Pool.

2. SFI is free to join and does not mandate you to buy anything, whereas, some other similar online programs require initial deposit and/or to make sales/purchases.

3. SFI provides free personalised website, including free maintenance to effectively operate your business.

4. SFI provides free training and resources to support you in getting started and progressing. However, in some other similar organisation this is not free because you may be required to but membership or beginners kit.

5. SFI offers opportunity to members to share from the company overall sales every month (TC Executive Pool) as well as continuous residual income, whereas some similar organisations offer commission only from your sales or referrals.

6. SFI has a simple and easy to understand compensation plan in such a way that there is transparency in the process. However, some other similar organisations’ compensation plan is very complicated and confusing in such a way that it does not provide clarity and transparency in the process.

7. SFI has succession plan in place so that if any member is incapacitated or dies, his/her beneficiary can take ownership of the business. In some other similar organisations, the businesses of their members die and incapacitate with them, resulting in the lost of business and all incomes.

8. SFI has a track record of about 17 solid years in business (30 years for SFI's parent company) without serious blemish or scandal, which is an indication of an invaluable experience, high business integrity and rock solid professionalism, whereas many similar businesses lack such records because they are inexperience, fraught with scandals and unprofessional conducts.

There are various reasons why some very active PSAs suddenly become inactive; lack of money, the content of the ads that brought them here, lack of understanding of the business and lack of support and clear direction. You see they may be active for sometime earning VP here and there, but at some point their inabilities or inadequacies will begin to come to the front burner as they progress, so if they cannot overcome these they just disappear.

As a sponsor you may need to be proactive instead of being reactive; be a hands-on sponsor, always at alert and respond to some difficulties you can diagnose within your team at the very early stage before they constitute a big problem that will lead your PSAs to become disillusioned, demotivated and consequently inactive, so you may apply the following suggestions:

1. You need to let them know as they are active that this business requires patience, dedication and persistence, that like any other business there may be ups and downs but their ability to come out strong will improve their chances of success. This is because as a legitimate business, success does not happen overnight.

2. Communicate regularly, encourage and motivate with words and actions. Send e-cards, gift certificates, do reassignments where appropriate to boost commitment etc.

3. Some affiliates join with great enthusiasm and high spirit especially in the first few days when they start raking the VP but as this initial euphoria tends to evaporates, they start to wonder how to move forward without the VP or as a result of the little commission as a first time EA. In order to ameliorate this effect you may want to create a simplified path for their SFI business in order to increase understanding and appreciation of this business, by expressing in clear and unambiguous terms what they may expect at each stage and the alternatives to go past each stage.

For example, instead of talking much about standing order and spending money (which may be necessary at some point in this business anyway) to make EA status, give alternative like sales, referral, team building to achieve same, so that they get the gist that it is not all about money at that stage but understanding. This is true because when they understand this system, then they will be well informed on the ‘why’, the ‘when’ and the ‘how’ of investing in this business.

4. Encourage them from the start to register at the forum, especially the Regional and Country forums, so that they will experience something outside the 'beltway'. They will be able to participate and see issues relating to affiliates who share similar concerns being resolved and given appropriate guidance. They will be motivated to see that others who have similar problems or concerns are listening and forging ahead.

5. Send them snap shots of your successful or/and very active friendly affiliates from their same countries who are successful here and ask them to be a2a friends so that they can share their successful stories with them and how they weathered the storm to become serious and successful affiliates here, but be very cautious and ensure they are your good friends.

The list goes on but to conclude, I must mention that no matter what you do and how you go about working your socks off to make them active, you may not succeed in every situation because you cannot force someone who does not want to give it a try and moreover this SFI business is not for everybody. As you can see, at some point you need to make a decision on when to redeploy your time, effort and other resources away from some of them to better and much more potentially successful areas of your business.

It honestly depends on the kind of help you mean, so helping by always giving someone fish at some point may be too much help, but helping by teaching the person how to catch the fish himself will never be too much of a help. In the former you are turning the person into a dependant, while in the latter you are teaching him how to fend for himself.

The same applies to your affiliates because if you continuously do things for them that they can do for themselves or you can teach them to do for themselves, then they will become dependants which will result in their lack of growth and self esteem. More so, the consequence at some point will become counter productive as they will be unable to guide and develop an active downline or worse still, you will be creating a very dangerous duplication in your downline.

However, when you teach your affiliates how to succeed by mentoring them to do what you do, the entire team will be better for it because knowledge is been duplicated and as you know, knowledge is power.

I am not advocating not to help them when necessary, but when you begin to treat them like kids that should be breast fed and do for them things they can do for themselves, then you will miss the point and may begin to drag your team gradually towards self destruct.

The Stream serves as an information tool to reach your downline members, a2a friends, upline members, connected ECAs and SFI Corporate. It therefore serves as a 2-way communication as these categories of people can engage in back and forth interactions with you, using stream post to pass important and useful information for building your business.

The Stream can be used in the following ways to build your SFI business:

1. Communicate very precise, important, useful, encouraging and motivating information to your downline. You may give them brief advertising tips and bring their attention to important SFI/TC news and update, congratulate achievers and encourage feet draggers and tyre kickers, using the Stream posts. Remember, when you help your team to build their businesses, you are invariably building yours.

2. Always use it to direct your downline to Tips, Recognitions, Contests and Rewards, Blog on your Leadership Page. Ensure your Leadership Page is up to date and rich in content that provide assistant to your downline in building a successful SFI business, which will also make yours a success.

3. If you are lucky to have a very active, experienced and helpful upline that post very helpful information in the Stream, then engaging them in a 2-way communication will be a powerful strategy to help build your business. Note that your upline Stream posts are not directed at a particular individual, so you may succeed in directing it to yourself in particular by responding and seeking reply, so that your personal business concerns will be addresses, which is particularly helpful because we cannot Stream upline.

4. Assuming again you have ‘good’ a2a friends who are willing to divulge good sources that lead to improved business success, then you can also engage using your Stream posts to tap into this opportunity. However, from my personal experience, it is often difficult to get such information, but I have gotten from a couple of them, especially those in the same country or region with you.

5. You need to connect to ECAs who sell products that you have interest in, especially business building ones like signups, traffic, website, hosting etc, in order to be up to date with new arrivals, hot deals, close outs and other promotions. This is because some of this information is communicated to those they are connected to, using the Stream.

How often to post? Ok for me I have much to share, so I post 2 or 3 times a week, but I ensure they are very good ones because the tendency for your downline and others to overlook your stream posts is much more reduced if they are continuously being impressed with them. However, SFI recommends a maximum of 3 days interval.

The effectiveness of using the Stream to build your SFI business will therefore depend on how you make use of it. This is because some affiliates do not care to go back to their Stream posts for feedback, especially the downline and a2a Streams which are often replaced by recent posts, so you need to click on the ‘View More’ link just above your first stream post photo.
