That is a good question. It is very frustrating to see so many people quit so soon after they register. Here are some of the reasons why I think they quit and a humble solution to retain and nurture new affiliates.

Many people quit on their first day at SFI and it may be because they are overwhelmed from the very beginning by the profile questions. In those first few minutes, a lot of people hesitate because it can be quite unnerving to answer questions you have not even asked yourself when you are adrift and looking for ways to improve your life. This may be why many don't even bother to continue on to the next phase.

Others half finish their profile and proceed to read their sponsor's greeting... and sometimes stop there. Is it because they are overwhelmed by what their sponsor is telling them? Or perhaps this is where they realize SFI is not for them. Some click on one or two of the daily or monthly actions because they are at the top of the page. The first item is the To-do list itself and when they see how long it is they probably think: “Oh dear, how can I do all this?” Others also click on the action that takes them to their TConnect page. The TConnect page can be another stumbling block: what do you write in your profile when you don't even know what you want to do yet?

Some probably don’t know how to whitelist their email or upload their photo. Even the simplest tasks can generate feelings of despair in those who have no experience whatsoever. They must feel that if they can't even do the easy things, how will they manage to learn all the more complicated things. Perhaps they were expecting something a little easier to understand, so they too fall by the wayside.

Also you have those that accumulate many points in the first month and then stop and never visit again. Why? Perhaps they are just going through the motions without really understanding what they are doing and where these actions will take them. They have reached EA rank but don't see how they will personally benefit from this. And let's be honest: referring, promoting and duplication are not the easiest things to do when you have zero experience, so they too get disheartened.

I have therefore come to the conclusion that throwing information at people with zero experience is a recipe for disaster. I believe that is why so many people quit but I also believe that many of these same people could become the best affiliates if only they had more guidance and simpler explanations from the very beginning.

Perhaps it is time for SFI to come out with a series of short videos that simplify and provide good examples of what people should do at SFI the first few days, weeks and months. Sometimes it is easier to learn from watching a video than it is to learn from what you are reading, especially when everything you read is brand new and totally out of your league.

These short videos could be hosted by someone attractive and with a good sense of humor in order to put their audience at ease. They could also contain easy to understand explanations with simple examples of how to accomplish each task: How to whitelist, how to upload a photo, How to promote products, how to refer customers or ECAs to TripleClicks, how to sponsor PSAs, how to duplicate, why VersaPoints are so important, why attaining team leader rank is so important, etc. etc.

For all our sakes I hope those videos are in the works. I know that some people who have managed to get through the first months feel that SFI is not so difficult. Well good for them! However, for the immense majority, it is very difficult to understand what to do and HOW to succeed.

As I said at the beginning, this is just my humble opinion. What do you think?

You are already an awesome sponsor for giving it your best shot. Remember that this business is not for everyone. The affiliates who block your emails may feel overwhelmed by too much information or perhaps they are just not interested in what you have to say. At least not yet…

However, if these affiliates haven't opted out of the program, they will still receive messages from SFI and TripleClicks, so all is not lost. Perhaps in time they will want to give this program a second chance and you will be there, ready to be an awesome sponsor for them.

Meanwhile, work with the workers and continue to learn more about this business so that you can be an even better sponsor to your present and future affiliates.

There are many ways to engage with your team in your Stream posts. In fact, I believe it is the best place for you and your team members to participate in discussions and get to know one another. It creates a sense of family because everyone on your team can add to the discussion and share their experience.

Use your Stream posts to congratulate and motivate your most active members; post relevant information in case they missed it; remind them to read the weekly messages from SFI to stay informed and not miss the chance to play Spin & Win; share tips on how to do certain things that have worked for you; share links to valuable Forum posts; share your achievements as well, so that they can see that anything is possible!

These are just a few of the things you can use your Stream posts for, but there are many others, so get creative and use them to strengthen your bond with your team.

What makes me proud to be an SFI affiliate?

I am proud to be an SFI affiliate because I have seen for myself how trustworthy, successful and reputable SFI is. I know I can recommend it to others without hesitation because it is a positive experience for anyone who wants to try their hand at online marketing.

It does not try to trick you or pry money you can ill-afford out of your hands, nor does it pressure you into doing anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. On the contrary, it tells you to go at your own pace and get the feel of the business before acting. It does its best to make the learning process as easy as possible, which is not an easy task given the amount of information there is.

But what I like most about SFI is that it does not act like a big, cold corporation: it listens to its affiliates and is always looking for new and better ways to make their time at SFI a fun and rewarding experience. At SFI I feel like part of a big, warm-hearted family that takes care of its own.

The secret to making money at SFI is quite simple: log in daily, study the training material and gradually apply what you learn.

The most important secrets can be found in the START video, the SFI BASICS page and the Launchpad lessons, because they give you a complete overview of what you can accomplish at SFI, as well as several different ways you can earn money, such as:

a) Refer customers to TripleClicks in order to earn monthly commissions;
b) Recommend the ECA program to business owners and earn 10% on all their sales; and
c) Recruit and train a team of affiliates in order to earn residual income for years to come.

Make it your New Year's resolution to study hard and apply what you learn. Maybe by the end of next year you will be ready to answer your own question and share with us how you did it :-)

You can successfully study and teach at the same time IF you take the time to understand each step of this program. So take it slow and share what you learn as you learn it. You will have better results if you take it step by step yourself and then lead them through the same process. That way you can provide a simple explanation about what you did, how you did it, and why it is important for them to do it.

What you can ask them to do from the very beginning, is to watch the SFI Start video, read the SFI Basics page and do all the Launchpad lessons. That should give them a good idea of what they can accomplish here at SFI, and you should be able to answer any questions they have, because you will already have gone through these basic steps.

Some of your PSAs might learn faster than you; others make take more time. Calculate the needs of each individual on your team and if you don't know the answer to a question, look it up in the SFI search engine or ask for help in the Forum, and encourage them to do the same. As their Sponsor, you are here to guide them, but they must also find their own answers at their own pace.

If it's someone who loves to shop online, you could say:

If it's someone who loves auctions or games, you could say:

If it's someone who wants to sell their unwanted items, you could say:

If it's someone who would like to open an online or ECA store, you could say:

If it's someone who loves music, you could say:

Daily actions are there for a reason and ignoring them or thinking they are a waste of time will only make it harder for affiliates to understand the many ways they can benefit from what SFI has to offer. Yes, they can be tedious and boring at times, but these daily actions are absolutely necessary if we want to build a strong and lasting business based on knowledge.

Do you remember the story of the three little pigs and the lesson it teaches us? Two of the little pigs were lazy and built flimsy houses made of straw and sticks which, of course, were easily destroyed by the big bad wolf. On the other hand, the third little pig worked hard to build a strong brick house, and as much as he huffed and puffed, the big bad wolf was unable to blow the house down.

If we are to be as wise and far-sighted as the third little pig, we should make a habit of doing our daily actions and appreciate the fact that they are there to help us create a solid foundation on which to build an indestructible business. Without the knowledge we gain from these daily actions, we are at the mercy of the big bad wolf of ignorance.

The IAHBE Standing Order gave 1,500 VP and cost 29 dollars. As far as I know, there is no other option, other than the 125 TCredit pack, that comes anywhere near the price and the amount of VP we could earn with the IAHBE. If we buy individual products to earn the 1,500 VP, the cost is far greater than 29 dollars.

Therefore, perhaps SFI could be persuaded to consider a brand new Standing Order package that might be very appealing to most affiliates, because it reunites two of the things we need most each month: new affiliates to grow our teams and TCredits to bid in auctions, play games, win PSAs, CSAs, more TCredits, etc.

What I suggest is a special Standing Order package consisting in 1 S-Builder Coop Unit and a 100 TCredit Pack for 1,500 VP and a special SO price of $40.00 dollars, which is 10 dollars more expensive than what the IAHBE used to cost, but 11 dollars less expensive than what these two products would cost if bought individually.
