I have shared a different business with an Uncle who is a minister because of the potential the business had to raise funds for charitable organizations and which I happened to be doing myself. My Uncle knew me when I was an annoying little girl. He does not see me as an efficient and accomplished business person. Last week I handed a brochure to a gentleman I just met and said, "This is my business." since the subject had come up. Immediately he was excited to join. This man met me in a situation where I was perceived to be successful.
Start attending business networking sessions. Learn how successful people talk, act and carry themselves and begin to put this into your own habits. You need to learn how to become a leader now. You have to perceive yourself as successful. When people ask what you do, your answer should be a simple one that entices more questions. I frequently say I am a marketing expert and I teach people how to develop successful online businesses.
I always lead with myself. I am the expert, I am the leader. "If you want success, follow me, I will show you the way." Not is such simple terms, but that is the aim.
There are many great books about self development and they are good, like "Even Eagles Need a Push." There are great sayings: Some will, some won't, NEXT!" or "It takes a 1000 noes to get a yes. I am one closer now."
THe VERY BEST book I ever read about marketing and business growth is Magnetic Sponsoring. It gave me presence. It taught me how to attract people to me, rather than me chasing them around trying to tell them about my business. I am going to list this book in my ECA if you are interested in reading it. It is a game changer.
