I believe giving a TC gift card to someone in person is much more effective especially if you have some kind of relationship with them. The more familiar they are with you, the better the chances are of them using it. For instance, it is better to give one to a waitress who frequently serves you and to whom you give tips than give to a waitress at a random restaurant while traveling who doesn’t know you.
On the other hand, my experience with distributing TC gift cards online is that people fill out their contact information on my capture page to get one but hardly ever sign up at TripleClicks when I send them the TC Gift Card. And even when they do sign up, most don’t purchase anything. My guess is that most people are very busy and there is not enough incentive for them to look through Triple Clicks for a small item to purchase. I’ve even encouraged them with an additional offer of a gift certificate after they sign up but have had no takers.
