Why does it seem like everyone who joins SFI think it's get-rich-quick?

To me, a lot of that has to with the our SFI landing page. I mean, have you seen all that money flying out of that laptop? I'm sure we all have as that is where we all signed up. The initial instinct of 99% of people who see it will treat it as another scam. I know I did. When I first saw it, I said to myself "money flying out of a laptop? What a scam.". I was into PTC back then. But after months, I kept on seeing it again and again. I then decided to give it a try cause I was wondering why people would keep on advertising this. But while signing up, I fully expected this to be another get rich scam. And when I did sign up, the SFI Basics page were full of images of people carrying huge amounts of dollars. If you are a lazy person who doesn't like reading and bases everything on pictures, then the initial thought is either this is a scam or this is some sort of get rich in a minute program.
So in short, the reason people treat SFI like a get rich quick program is because it looks like one. If they don't read, they won't understand. Maybe that is something we should bring up to Gery himself. Cause with all those scams out there on the internet, one can easily treat us as the same thing if they base their judgement all the images of money they are greeted with on SFI.

What should a new SFI affiliate focus on to ensure a good financial return in their first month?

Hmm. Honestly, in the first month, I don't want my affiliates to primarily focus on earning. Instead, I encourage them to learn as much about the business as possible. One lesson a day on the LaunchPad is what I stress to them so that they don't get overwhelmed. Also, I advise them to read the links within these lessons to learn even more about that day's topic. If possible, read those lessons twice or even three times so that they are able to absorb even more information from that lesson.
But, I do understand that some affiliates want to do something to possibly earn them cash so that they feel that their efforts aren't futile. Their best bet would probably be to promote products on the TripleClicks Store. Everyday, promote 3 - 5 products on social networking sites. By the end of the month, they should be able to get at least 1 or 2 sales. And not only will they see $ commission, but they probably will see VP income as well. That should get them going and inspire to aim even higher.

What is your best way to motivate your downline?

The number one factor that helps motivate your affiliates starts with something extremely basic. That something is simply always being available to answer any questions or concerns they may have. And when I say always, I mean you have got to be available at least 12 hours a day for them. Sounds hard? Not at all! Technology has evolved so much that you can log in on your Skype, gmail, yahoo, facebook, twitter and what not directly on your mobile device. So when I say at least 12 hours a day, I don't mean you have to stare at your PC for that amount of hours. All you need to do is log in to your respective social networking applications using your mobile devices (cellphones / laptops / tablets / etc.). That way, you are making yourself available to your affiliates and that allows for great sponsor to affiliate interaction. Building relationships on the internet is tough as it is, so doing this helps break that barrier. And you must remember to give your affiliates your contact information (gmail address, Skype ID, etc.). Afterall, what good is always being online if they don't know your credentials right?
Another great way to motivate your affiliates is rewarding them with free stuff. Don't have enough cash? No Problem! There are tons of great E-Books on Tripleclicks that are just worth a dollar! Very wallet friendly and a great bonus gift to your affiliates who achieve EA / TL status. Give them an E-Book that will help their business and they will appreciate the sentiment.
At the end of the day, the best way to motivate affiliates is to treat them with respect and build a strong relationship. Break that internet barrier that separates you with them by always making yourself virtually visible! I mean, that is what you would want too from your upline sponsor right? Have Fun and Good Luck!

What's the best incentive to offer new affiliates?

It really depends on the level of experience and success with which their team leader has attained. For new leaders, never underestimate the value of just being there for your new affiliates. People want to earn; that's a given. At the start, I'm sure everybody realizes the potential SFI has, but the information on this site can be overwhelming for new users. They will surely have questions and will naturally turn to their leaders for help. If that cry for help goes unanswered, most new affiliates will eventually get lazy and quit. But if they see you are there for them and are ready to support, most of them will do their part. New affiliates aspire to be leaders and will hold you as their role model. Whether you are a new team leader or a veteran, the best incentive you can give is your undying support.
For the more seasoned and successful leaders in SFI, man TCredits for me is a really really nice incentive. Why? Because of all the things your affiliates can get through auction! Just inform them how TCredits work and how auctions work. They'll be so happy that you gave them the chance to buy so many cool stuff on auction!
So that for me is the best things you can do. There are many other things that you can offer as a Team Leader, but undying support and TCredits are the top guns in my book.
