Once I can get over the initial worry that an affiliate might not want to be signed up to us I can thereafter connect via phone (yes I do international calls to support my team) or Skype or email or any other of the wide range of methods to connect in real time. The improvement to SFI IM now makes it more likely that I can get a response or respond to in-site SFI chats and have some record of my conversation this way too.
I have discovered that my affiliates know of a vast number of different communication systems and have followed their preferences as much as possible because I want them to communicate with me and ask me questions of support and planning without feeling uncomfortable about using methods of communication that they themselves are not experienced in.

What should an affiliate do if their sponsor is non-responsive?

While many might find this such a huge disappointment it is not hard to get around.
SFI is already aware that there is much to learn so as well as the excellent resources like the launchpad and basics it has many other ways of helping us. One is the sponsoring and co-sponsors but remember it is only one method and please do not give up if one seems weak.
SFI is really strong and it shows! Where? Ask SC is a great resource for other people's views on what works well and what we can do to mimic other people's success. Also the Forum is another excellent way of seeing questions answered by people with practical experiences which overcame difficulties which we all experience in one way or another.
Don't judge one weakness which you might experience as being a sign of everything being weak because nothing could be further from the truth. Dive into the resources we've been given. The answers are all there.

How do you get your affiliates to approach their SFI business realistically, like a real business, and not some get unrealistic rich quick scheme?

Really, you are asking how to get rid of tire kickers. You can't but the good news is it isn't hard to identify them so you can move on and help those who are serious.
We actually see in SFI the question "Are you serious"?
I actually ask this of my sign up PSAs and CSAs in this way:
"Make sure your contact details are correct so I can phone you and help you through any questions you may have about SFI and TripleClicks. Also, please make sure your contact details are correct as this will help you get paid your commissions. let me know you have had this welcome letter and give me a best time of day to phone you."
I can almost guarantee that if the person hitting the keys to sign up is serious these will be put right soon so you can establish two way communication. Once you have that then it is only a matter of time before you both achieve the success you want.

I have heard about Team Leaders with groups numbering in the tens of thousands! What do they do differently to build such a huge downline?

AS with any "expert" they are only a matter of time and patience ahead of others. In building a team they have probably recruited over a longer time scale than you and might even have budgeted for payments to increase their team building efforts.
In short they are only a matter of time ahead of anyone who can also duplicate their success at team building. It does help us though if we can quickly establish two way communication with our own teams and also get them to recruit as well as us.

What kinds of investments should a new affiliate plan on making to succeed in SFI?

Time costs. If we were paid by an employer we would expect to work hard for our dollars. Why should it be different for us as Executives of our own affiliate business?
Well, it can be if we place a little seed money into it.
The trick (if there is one) is to invest a little wisely.
Knowing what works best for us is a matter of research and testing but most Team Leaders are able to maintain their status each month and thereby earn their Executive Pool bonuses and other bonuses like second home CSAs because they spend a little effectively.
For me I am not able to afford high shipping costs to buy from TripleCLicks as much as I would like especially as they sell direct some excellent products that are much more appealing than local products AND I can earn VP and commissions from TripleCLicks so why not buy there!
If my team uses my links to buy then I am rewarded also which is great.
How much is a little though? That is the unknown. Personally, I am recruiting an affiliate team to sustain my growth into the future so I will spend on campaigns for paid traffic sources and shout out the message for all to hear just how good SFI and TripleCLicks really are from my viewpoint. The critical mass needed for the SFI affiliate building to work though is more than just find 5 to duplicate what I am doing. I have over 1500 affiliates and real life gets in the way for a lot of them. Lack of vision about how SFI really can build up a solid and rewarding monthly income means I recruit more until...that tipping point is reached.
There is no magic figure here for a perfect answer because it will vary so much for us as individuals but I am reaching break-even after 6 months of being in SFI so I am pleased.
After all many successful businesses never break-even in their first year. Some household names only made break-even into profits after some years of effort building up.
Bam! That is the real answer right there. measure just how much you are prepared to lose is nothing comes back for your investment. Be patient and be prepared for mistakes along the way as you learn while you earn because it really is a learning curve but one with good rewards for those who do more than sign up free looking for free money. Investment is critical even if only time spent at keys working on daily tasks as small steps make a long journey towards monthly residual income.

How can we convince our PSAs that they should become TripleClicks WAVE3 members?

Convincing might be too strong a word for what is really informing our PSAs of benefits that Wave3 provides. Considering the advantage of having a sticker on our car rear windows means the opportunity for some conversations with potential recruits to our teams this is hardly a hard sell but a welcome addition to our methods of reaching out to our audience.

If I set up a co-op, how do I get my downline to participate in it?

I try to put myself in the place of my team.
Even CSAs are given free access to a co-op which I target for their country so that language and culture is easier than having to support using translations.
I try to target workers so that they can pass on what they do and what they have learned to their recruits.
I use S-builder often to reward CSAs as I cant reassign affiliates to CSAs only to PSAs.
To measure who is working I look not only at Movers tab but use the genealogy quick filters to see who is working across all PSA and CSA levels.
Only criteria I use is to see they are working daily. Even better if they have established a 1500VP as it proves they are serious to show using the badges that they are working and hence able to lead by example.
To our success.

How do you explain to potential ECA prospects what the E-Commerce Associate program is all about?
Philip Rees, Aff (United Kingdom)

Affiliate since: 11/05/2012, Power Rank: 99999999
The essence of ECA store is that it is a place to list your items for sale.
Why does the prospect need it?
TripleClicks ECA stores permit access to SFI affiliates who will connect and advertise their affiliate links to items for sale via their blogs and advertising which means that the potential ECA will have the benefit of unpaid advertising. Popular ECA store attract many affiliates this way.
ECA stores operate in over 160 countries with over 100,000 items for sale. What does this mean to our potential ECA? TripleClicks has a huge number of website pages which are visited by large numbers of potential customers as documented by TripleClicks Alexa ranking which puts us in the higher ranking of e-store portal websites.
By comparison a potential ECA would have to fund paid advertising and paid Search Engine Optimization (SEO) costs in order to gain such status which would be beyond the budget affordability of many small and medium sized enterprises.
Cost of sales is a known cost. This benefit is not immediately apparent to many business owners as they start to sell goods or services but nevertheless it is important to factor into our discussion with a potential ECA because it is a benefit that is appreciated by many ECA stores. When an item is listed the margin for profit is fixed in the listing process. Many brick and mortar businesses cannot completely decide their profit margins as a real world business has variable costs that can distort profit margins. The listing can fix the cost of sale immediately to usually 15% but can be varied so as to make the item more attractive for SFI affiliates to promote by say increasing to 25%. This increased cost of sale when it is made allows TripleClicks to conduct business in such a manner as to benefit advertising and promotion much better than the potential ECA would be able to do.
A short answer to your question would be to increase customer numbers for the potential ECA but as we can appreciate the benefits might not appear so obvious to someone not already in SFI. For reference look at the resources we are given by SFI and TripleClicks and ensure you present these features as benefits so the potential ECA fully understands why they really do need to sign up to TripleClicks. It is easy to state the ECA store is a free website for them to advertise their items for sale but that does not do justice to TripleClicks especially when other competitors also are free to use. We must highlight our strengths in the number of affiliates that could connect and thus help promote the ECA store and the already high ranking in Alexa as well as the fixed cost of sale to provide known margins of profit.

What are the best pitches to use when speaking to people face to face about SFI, TripleClicks, Pricebenders, or the ECA program?

A good pitch to use when face to face is to talk about SFI as being the answer to their need. For example, when you get to end your sentence show your card or giftcard moving from one hand to the other before offering it to them to take from you. They should see you presenting yourself as an open book that they are reading to the end (when you offer them your card). If they read from left to right they are looking for you to move that card from your right to your left hand at the end of your pitch. If they read from right to left then move your card from your left (their right) to your right hand before offering it for them to take. That is neural linguist power at work getting them to accept your message without barriers.

What do successful Leaders in SFI know and do?
Philip Rees, Aff (United Kingdom)

Success is relative to the measurement you adopt. For example, badges can be earned by simply spending a lot as badges show success do they not? Well even that depends as it is possible for a Platinum Leader to actually receive less commissions per month than a Bronze Leader as their team may purchase amounts disproportionately.
Generally, when affiliates sign up to SFI and learn about the many ways to make an income there is a clear pathway to recruit a team and duplicate your purchasing each month so that commissions eventually get to cover your purchase costs. Increase that winning formula with recruiting larger number of affiliates and increasing commissions is how some measure success.
Others will look to recruit but not build a team so they will get a bounty for a sign up who satisfies certain conditions but are allotted to a different affiliate for sponsorship. There is no "hand-holding" or support requirement for this to be a success, just the ability to get large numbers of affiliates interested to sign up.
Yet others will look to TripleClicks for making sales in their own TConnect or even ECA store. Here the difference between the retail sale price and the cost of getting the sale can give a very good reward in commissions. Also it has the benefit of enabling SFI to provide affiliates with internal rewards in VP which are used for commissions and rank which is reflected in badges.
To arrive at any measure of success requires us to learn what works well and reproduce those effects ourselves in whichever pathway we prefer. If we arrive at SFI with learning from other income streams already then maybe we progress at a faster rate but SFI is very open about the pathways to succeed here. It is truly open to anyone no matter how experienced or knowledgeable to become successful in SFI and TripleClicks.
So, "successful Leaders" in your question actually learn what works well and assimilate good practice in what they do. Their badges in SFI, the rating in TripleClicks ECA store and in private their bank reflects their success.
The common element in all though is the thirst for learning and application of that learning for the benefit of themselves, their team and SFI.
