As a sponsor you must not let this happen at any cost.
Yet if this happened, following can be done as a part of recovery:
1.Check your GENEALOGY, STREAM POSTS to know the things that happened in your down line in your absence.
2.Send a team mail individually to your down line members, apologizing and also notifying them regarding your return.(Also include appreciation for any achievement, in your absence)
3.Reward them (if possible) as a treat for being active.
4.Ask them if there was something they needed from you to get motivated or promoted.
5.Make them feel you are there to help and support them out.
6.Try your efforts to start the conversation with affiliates and make the things feel easy and comfortable.
7.Also ensure it to yourself first and then to affiliates that you won't repeat it again ever
In a nut-shell, try to get the things on track by actively communicating and responding possibly each and every member of your down line because COMMUNICATION is the best resource, power tool or in other words LIFELINE.

How can I get my downline members to understand SFI and what to do?

Make it a custom to go through SFI Basics for whole of your team. Ask the downline members something regarding what they went through, discuss openly with them. Make them understand how to work at SFI and ask them to go through SFI RULES OF SUCCESS. Ask them to use all the on site materials to increase their knowledge regarding SFI. Be ready to solve all their quarries whenever they feel so.
If you feel they are less interested in SFI, increase their interests with your rewards or by some attractive Programmes like: Pricebenders, ECA and all those where they would get a much more price for the minimum efforts of theirs.

The best way to inspire a TEAM needs the fundamentals of management. For developing a TEAM sPIRIT, you must co-ordinate your all members in all that activities you do.
Communication is the first thing. Regular contact develops a sense of faithfulness and friendliness and then of being one.
Easy availability of yours as and when required makes the feeling strong.
Lastly rewarding them and asking them to do the same i.e. Lead by your example will surely inspire a sense of TEAM Participation.

Does having a co-op for your downline help get them active and stay active?

Having a co-op for downline is surely a good thing but before including any of the person in that, you must ask them regarding it.
If a person wishes to be a part of your co-op then only he/she must be included and also you must set some target based conditions for the entry in your co-op because you must see that what all efforts you put for your downline are precious, each and every minute and each and every penny, so you must see that an active and needy person gets the full benefit of it.
You can set some conditions based on sponsoring like :"Sponsor this much PSAs and get a share in the co-op" and some on the basis of VP like:"Score >3000 VP and get a share in the co-op. And many such to segregate the active and non-active affiliates.
This will give the best results for your co-op for downline and keep the affiliates active.

I have affiliates who are inactive. Is it a good idea or bad idea to reassign them to my active affiliates?

No. You must not reassign an inactive affiliate to the active affiliate. Although there is a chance that he/she might get active but the chances are very little. Also the active affiliates under you might feel little conservative by your decision. They might feel that they are being rewarded an inactive affiliate for their honest and active working.
So, better not to do it and keep the affiliate with you and try you could make them active and then transfer to the active affiliates.
Do you reward your active CSAs the same as you reward your active PSAs? If not, how do you reward them?

Truly speaking I haven't rewarded any of my CSAs equally as my PSAs but I do value them. Mainly the active ones, by active I mean those who are in regular touch with me. I haven't received much response from CSAs and so I decided to reward only the active ones and not equally as my PSAs. But I do communicate, solve their qurries and share tips/ideas with them same as I do with my PSAs.
The main reason for doing this is I believe that I don't want to stand up as their Sponsor and also want their Sponsor to do some exercise which is actually their duty and also a part of business. I think what all I do is enough.

For turning the inactive affiliates into active ones, first of all you must communicate to them and ask for their readiness to work and wait for their reply. Those who communicate back to you must be asked what kind of support they needed and then he/she must be rewarded accordingly.
You must take care you don't waste your resources behind a person who is not going to be active by any means, and if you do so you are cutting a share of the active affiliate which might prove useful to him/her. So act wisely and reward accordingly.

How do I go about finding ECAs in my own city?

It can be done in following ways:
1.Post an ad in the local newspaper.
2.Run your own ad on the local cable operator.
3.Personally visit the big stores/shops in your city and tell them the benefits of joining as an ECA.
4.Visit local marketing areas like FREE TRADE ZONES and Industrial Areas.
5.Visit the local small scale industries and tell them about marketing as an ECA.
What is a good example of a letter I could send to businesses with my flyers advertising the ECA Program?

So it is necessary to update each and every tag.
Starting with the blog, update your blog with innovative ideas, inspirational quotes and shortcuts or tips.
Recommend the products and tools you think could be helpful to your affiliates.
Submit the best tip, offer attractive rewards to PSA/CSA and affiliates in your team.
Also make a habit to update it periodically, may be weekly or monthly as it is the wish of every active affiliate to know new things and specially to hear from their sponsors or upline members.
Lastly you can ask them to visit regularly by mailing them or mentioning about it in stream post.
